Sailor Made Ropeworks...

Welcome to Sailor Made Ropeworks! My name is Tim. After a wonderful career in the United States Merchant Marines, I've learned quite a few things about rope-work and its overall importance. From line splicing to Rope Fenders, Monkey Fists and Woggle Rugs (sailor/ocean plaits), there was never a dull moment. I will always give full credit to the man who took me under his wing and taught me how to be the very best rope worker around; his name is Joe Olson (Bosun of the CS Global Sentinel). Because of Joe Olson, I not only learned rope-work but fell in love with it! After all these years, I still love rope-work! Thank you Joe!

If you like the nautical look, then you came to the right place! Although I live in St. Augustine, Florida, no destination is too far. On the following page, you will see my work that has already sold. If there is something you see that catches your eye, I would love to custom make it for you! Click the button below and visit the Sailor Made Ropeworks store or email me and I will get to work (keep in mind, I don't use templates so every Fender, Woggle Rug, Monkey Fist etc... will be unique)! sailormaderopework@gmail.com

Carrick is the Gaelic word for "rock". The name Carrick is believed to come from the word "Carrack" which would have been a three to four mast merchant vessel used in the late 14th and into the 15th centuries. The knot itself (Carrick Bend) is believed to have been fashioned from a medieval Gaelic breast plate and has become one of the most beloved rope-work designs of all time (one of my favorites for sure).
